The Alamo Drafthouse app had to carry the same night-out logic as the website, but under more pressure. On a phone, people are scanning showtimes, picking seats, ordering food, and checking loyalty rewards in a few distracted minutes. The redesign brought those flows into the Marquee Design System without losing the density regulars depend on.

What the redesign covered
- Full screen-by-screen redesign of the iOS app
- Integrated Marquee Design System tokens and components
- Core flows: browsing, showtime selection, seat maps, food ordering, and Victory loyalty rewards
Dark, dense, and built on Marquee
- Dark-first throughout: cinema is a dark-room experience and the app should feel like one
- Amber accent carries the Drafthouse brand warmth into the digital product
- Dense information hierarchy on the “Now Playing” screen mirrors how regulars scan for showtimes

What shipped
The redesigned app brought Marquee fully into the mobile experience, giving the iOS app and Drafthouse.com a shared visual and interaction language. Flows that had accumulated patch-on-patch decisions over years of releases were rebuilt from the same component library. The app became the test of whether Marquee could survive real product pressure: tiny screens, dense decisions, and people trying to get to the movie on time.
